the complete ridiculousness

of a teeny baby mama feeling all proud of weight gain.

At his three weeks doctor visit, Rainbow weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces, up from 9 lbs. 1.3 oz. at birth.

Today, I had Mr. Bill at the town post office weigh him on the package scale, and, at five weeks, yes that’s two weeks later, Rainbow weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces.

I know, it’s What Little Babies Do, they Gain Weight, but I guess it’s all so fresh to me that gaining over three pounds in TWO WEEKS is cuh-razy.  And this is not a flabby fat baby – oh no! – he is a lusty, vigorous chap for sure, but most assuredly not a flabby guy.  It’s all muscle, baby.

In other news: T, the social worker, came by today for our first of three post placement visits.  She was very sweet and pleasant, and it was just like chatting with a friend.  Who’s seen you at your most neurotic and emotional.  Ha!  Ha ha.

Anyway, it was a very non-stressful visit.  She wanted to learn about Rainbow’s physical growth (HOO YAA!!) as well as mental and social, and how he is fitting into the family, how we’re all doing, our communications with F and J, etc. etc.  It was nice.
