9 month statistics

Somewhat delayed in the telling, but here we go:

He weighed (on November 30, his 9 month birthday being November 26) 27 pounds and 10 ounces. He was 30 1/2 inches long and his head was 48 cm in circumference.

All of these measurements are off the chart for his age.

He’s a big fella.

The doctor said that he looks beautiful and perfect (duh) and that he is probably just going to be a very tall man when he finishes growing. As a tall person married to a tall wife and with tall children, the doctor said it’s great to have tall boys, especially, because they like being big, but you one has to be careful to not treat them like they’re older than they are.

Just in the last week or so, he’s become somewhat sleep-resistant, which is a real bummer. Prior to now, he loved going to bed, and, if he stayed awake for fifteen or twenty minutes before drifting off, he’d just warble to himself. But now, he’ll be waaaaayyy sleepy, like, clearly ready for bed: done with the bottle, done with the book, leaning toward the bed, but crying once you put him down. We’re letting him cry some tonight; I’ve been going up every 5 or so minutes to hold him and reassure him, and he pretty much falls asleep in my arms shortly after I pick him up, but then he cries again as soon as I put him down. Sigh. It sounds like he finally went to sleep.

Maybe – there’s some more weary complaining.

I guess it’s developmental? He’s aware of a bigger world and more to do and is resisting sleep, perhaps? Or is scared about what happens when you sleep…? Who knows. I wish I could read his mind.

Poor little baby.

Go to sleep.
