Random Kindness

Just found out that it’s Random Acts of Kindness Week, Feb. 15-21.

I’ve never participated in this before, although we have donated and helped out in Ward’s honor and it is such a great feeling to do something nice while thinking of him. I’m trying to think of things to encourage the boys to do to mark this week, and hope to make it a yearly event for us.

They could do something nice for a shut-in in Bell Buckle. Maybe just knock on the door and ask if they could do chores for an hour. I’ll bet the Methodist minister would know of someone. I love this theme (week) and hope it really takes off. I’ve heard of people who pay for items at the grocery store or WalMart or a restaurant for total strangers during the week. Or maybe just walk up to someone who looks really down and out and hand them some money and walk away.

Thanks, Sue. We got in two sort of easy random kindnesses, but they were pretty great. One especially (a random money present to an unknown recipient) kind of made my whole day, and I had the Commodore and his friend go hang out with Greatgrandma for the other one. Which they do occasionally anyway, but I talked about the spirit of the week. I’ll be more on the ball next year and fit some more in.
